Jacques Drai

"Art is a process of constant creation, unlike the craft that is the reconstitution of revenue and operating procedures repetitive. Consequently, he who prides himself on art as an actor, must embark on the path of continuous creation. It should not be afraid to explore different ways of speaking, and even contradictory ways to borrow and sometimes unexplored, since it is authentic and is not subject to the dictates of fashion. Even if he has the feeling of missing out on the quest for beauty. " Jacques Drai
Jacques Drai moved to Montpellier from Paris in 1996. He moved because of the light and the lifestyle of the region, a theme that is repeated in many artists.

Drai paints with an openness that is joyful to behold. His themes range from nudes to landscapes but the feature you the viewer notices the most is the enthusiasm and childlike love of colour and light.

Drai seems to be taken in by the colour and light of the model, scene, vista before him before he sees the content and manages to express this in his work. The vivid range of colours used has others recalling the work of Fauve.
There is no reproduvction in his work, his interpretation is best described by himself.
"Every work must be the expression of a single moment, and not variation of a recipe codified."
This statement allows he and you the viewer to see different genres in his work, sometimes in the same work.

Is this a definition of abstract?
Maybe not but Jacques Drai is looking.
