Jane Hansare

Jane Hansare lives in Catlelnau de Guers where she paints and creates ceramics in her own studio.

So far so good.

But look at Janes work and see the style and broadness of the painting and you need to look a little closer.

Born in Sweden, Jane studied and qualified as a physiotherapist. With a brother an Art director and another as a Professor of Art it was only a matter of time before she returned to Art.

Jane attended many art courses while working and bringing up her family and when in 1987 the children had gone from the family home Jane committed more time to her art.

During a summer course she was introduced to Nordic Watercolour, that style using big brushes and a lot of water so influenced by the school of Gerlesborg and settled on watercolour as a preferred choice .

After moving to France in 2000 Jane is now a full time artist and has a beautiful studio in Castelnau de Guers.

Jane paints landscapes, nature and still life all using the concept of colour and space to its full potential.

She has run residential courses based from her home for the last 8 years teaching the techniques she has and is learning.

She does as may Scandanavian painters do in making the sky so powerful and dominant that the details seem more focused and important.

Her portrait painting is wonderful, a free concept painter that gives a simplicity to her subjects.

Jane has been chosen twice (2004 and 2007) to exhibit in The Nordic Watercolour (Nordisk Akvarell) exhibition that takes place every three years.

She has exhibited in Sweden and France extensively and also has an interest in ceramics.
