Rika Deryckere

Rika Deryckere is a figurative painter. It creates a strong work, brutal as life, without any concessions, free tone, deep and disturbing, painting a fully human, crying in a loud voice the pains and joys involved in our lives of troubled beings of flesh, swollen with desire and heavy distress, bursting with vitality and sensual charge of sorrows too.
Born in 1962 near Kortrijk in Belgium, youngest of eight children of a working class family in West Flanders, she lives in France in the Cevennes since 1994.
She had a tumultuous life that led her across Europe, North and South, Berlin and Amsterdam to Madrid and Cyprus via London and Prague. Then one day she put her bag at the foot Cévennes, St Hippolyte du Fort.
